The power of Career and Technical Education lies in shifting students’ mindsets about future possibilities and positioning them to have both technical skills and true passion for a future career.

What's great about CTE is that it is problem-based by nature! Students engage in solving real-world problems like building homes, repairing automobiles, running a restaurant, and more. You can enhance a CTE program by applying the structures of LATIC that put students in charge of their own learning.

IDE corp. helped the Jersey City, NJ public schools redesign their comprehensive high schools into career academies, providing professional development for teachers to see how they could incorporate the students' chosen career paths into all subject areas.

In "What Impact Can We Have?" students work to provide housing solutions for the homeless by designing homes that could be printed with a 3D printer. In "What's On the Menu?" students design culinary creations to reflect particular countries.

Note that Career and Technical Education is typically supported, in part, through the Perkins Grant, which does include professional development expenses.
